Hands Update on State Board of EED Meeting - 12/7/07

12/10/07
Dear Homeschool Supporters,

Re: Update on State Board of EED meeting 12/7/07

Thank you to all for your efforts! We did not fail, although statewide programs will need to try another time for relief.

Steps towards correction of the 15% of funding formula cap on music, art and PE spending for the children in statewide programs died in a tie-vote (3-3) with Sylvia Reynolds, Bunny Scheafer, and Chair Esther Cox dissenting. Pat Shier, Shirley Holloway, and Tim Scott voted for. Former Chair Richard Mauer was not present. Lieutenant Colonel Luu's advisory yes vote did not count for official voting.

Make sure your legislators, the Governor and the State Board of EED are aware of your feelings on this issue (be sure to copy AHEA@AHEAnow.org so we can track this issue with you).

When the complete notes of the meeting on December 7th are available, we will send out a notice to all homeschoolers on our list. To assure that you will recieve updates, please fill out the homeschoolers' survey and consider joining us!

Sincerely,
The AHEA Board
